This Cookie Policy explains how Moninsight ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you use our Service. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites or apps store on your device (computer, smartphone, etc.) when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by Moninsight (the site/app you are visiting) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by other parties (like analytics providers) are called "third-party cookies." Moninsight primarily uses first-party cookies, and any third-party cookies are used only for our internal purposes (e.g., analytics) as described below.
In addition to cookies, we may also use browser storage technologies (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) for certain functional purposes, like caching your dashboard preferences or keeping your session state within the app. These are not cookies but function similarly.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
2.1 Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the Service to function properly. For example:
- Keeping you logged in as you navigate between different pages of the app.
- Remembering your session state so you don't lose progress between pages.
- Remembering your region or language preference.
- Providing basic security features like CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protection.
You cannot opt out of essential cookies because the Service won't work without them. However, these cookies do not gather information for marketing or advertising.
2.2 Analytics and Performance Cookies
We use analytics tools (like Google Analytics) that set cookies to collect information about how users interact with our Service. This data helps us understand:
- Which pages and features are visited most often.
- How users navigate through the app.
- If any errors or crashes occur on certain pages.
- Average session length and user engagement patterns.
The information these cookies collect is aggregated and not used to identify you personally. For instance, we might see that "200 users clicked on the Tax Planning section this week," but not that a specific named user did so. These cookies help us improve the Service's performance and design.
2.3 Security Cookies
We may use cookies to help detect malicious activity or violations of our Terms of Service. For example:
- Preventing cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks.
- Remembering if you have successfully completed additional verification steps (e.g., two-factor authentication).
- Flagging suspicious login activity across sessions.
2.4 Functional Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization:
- Remembering your in-app preferences (e.g., preferred dashboard layout or default date range for reports).
- Storing non-sensitive UI state to improve your experience on return visits.
2.5 Advertising Cookies
Moninsight currently does not host third-party ads, so we do not use advertising or tracking cookies for ad targeting on our platform. If this changes in the future, we will update this Policy and seek your consent as required by applicable law.
3. Cookie Reference Table
| Cookie Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
moninsight_session | Essential | Maintains your authenticated session | Session |
moninsight_csrf | Security | CSRF protection token | Session |

This table reflects our current cookie usage and will be updated as our practices evolve.
4. Your Choices
You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject certain cookies.
Browser Settings
You can set or modify your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies. If you choose to reject cookies, you can still use Moninsight, but some functionality (like staying logged in or remembering your preferences) may be limited or not work at all. Since cookie controls vary by browser, visit your browser's help menu for instructions:
Google Analytics Opt-Out
For Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which prevents Google Analytics from collecting information on your visits to sites that use it.
Do Not Track (DNT)
Some browsers have "Do Not Track" (DNT) features that let you tell websites not to track you. Our Service does not currently respond to DNT signals, because there is not an industry-wide consensus on how to interpret them. However, as described in this Policy, we limit our use of tracking to analytics and necessary service functions — we do not use it for advertising.
5. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of Moninsight after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
